On Wednesday, Representative Peter Welch joined a group of 80 House Members urging the Biden Administration to find a speedy resolution to the anti-circumvention investigation into solar cells and panels imported from Southeast Asia initiated by the U.S. Department of Commerce on April 1st. This investigation, which recent reporting suggests was based on a misrepresentation of the underlying data, has resulted in massive delays and cancelations in solar module deliveries, slashed the prospects for solar deployment, and kept coal plants operational. Expanding solar manufacturing in the U.S. is essential but, as Representative Welch recognizes, “freezing imports, killing jobs, and throwing the entire industry into disarray” is not the path forward.
