Electricity
go Renewable
Renewable Power
Utilizing solar, wind, local hydro, and digesters, we can reach 100% renewable electricity by 2030. As the first state to authorize community renewables through virtual net metering, home to three municipal and coop 100% renewable electric utilities, and now with one of the highest percentage of clean energy jobs per capita, Vermont was an early leader in renewable electricity and energy efficiency, and REV members have been central to this success.

Solar
Harnessing the power of the sun, sleek and clean solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, fit atop roofs or ground mounted posts or trackers and can be seen on houses, barns, offices, afield, and shading livestock and parking areas around Vermont (and the world). Most frequently connected through net metering, solar PV systems can literally run your electrical meter backwards or power your building without the electric grid when connected with energy storage.

Wind
Harnessing the infinite energy of wind to fight climate change and power our homes and businesses, wind turbines can be seen in action producing utility, community, commercial, and residential scale electricity in Vermont. Wind is the most efficient electricity generator. REV members manufacture wind turbines and management tools in Vermont that are relied upon around the world.

Batteries & Storage
Energy storage improves the way we generate, deliver, and consume electricity, enabling greater reliability and efficiency and lower costs. REV members design and manufacture home, commercial, and energy storage systems and software in Vermont that are relied upon around the world.

Efficiency
Efficiency includes the technologies, systems, and designs that allow us to do more while using less energy. Efficiency increases comfort and results in savings for homes and business, reduced time and energy needed for manufacturing processes, and more.

Hydro
Hydropower uses the gravitational force of flowing water to spin a turbine and generate electricity. In 2018, hydropower provided 34% of Vermont’s electricity.
